FAQ
How long is a tour?
All tours are 60 minutes unless otherwise stated.
How do I know if there’s space on the tour, and that it will take place?
If you’re able to purchase a ticket, it’s not sold out. As long as I don’t contact you, the tour is going ahead as planned. If I need to cancel due to illness or too few participants, I will contact you at least one day in advance. If a tour is cancelled, you will receive a full refund — you won’t risk losing any money.
Are there any tours in English?
Guided tours in English can be booked as private tours. I have tried offering open public tours in English, but unfortunately English speaking guests have yet to discover my capacities as a knowledgeable Västerås guide.
Are tours cancelled due to bad weather (rain/thunder/lightning/snow/cold)?
No, I run the tours in all weather conditions. I recommend dressing according to the weather, of course.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes, you’re very welcome to bring your dog on tours that take place entirely outdoors. Just keep in mind that there may be other dogs present, and your dog must not bark in a way that disturbs the tour. Of course, your dog has to be on a leash.
I use a wheelchair or mobility scooter. Can I join the tour?
The tours that are not accessible are Västerås Castle, Anundshög, the Old Steam Power Plant, and the Skultuna Brassworks. Djäkneberget also has some uneven terrain. On other tours, there may be some curbs, but I’m of course happy to assist.
I use a walker. Can I join the tour?
Apart from the tours listed above, it may work — but a minimum level of fitness is required to join our tours as we have a time frame in which the tours have to take place and therefore need to keep a certain pace.
I’ve booked a ticket to an open tour, but I can’t attend (due to illness or something else). Can I get a refund?
No, but you can use the amount as credit for another tour later. Just contact me and we’ll sort it out. Please note that this has to be done a day in advance.
Am I insured during the tour if I get injured?
If an accident happens, your own insurance applies.
Is there an elevator up to the control room inside the Steam Plant?
No, access is via a spiral staircase.
